Updated at: 0929 PST, Sunday, March 14, 2010 KANDAHAR: An explosion shook Afghanistan's southern city of Kandahar on Sunday, but it was not immediately clear what caused the blast and whether there were any casualties, security sources said. The explosion occurred close to Pakistan's consulate in the eastern part of the city and came after a series of attacks overnight by Taliban killed some 35 people in several parts of Kandahar, the expected next target of a NATO-led offensive. Before the Taliban's ouster in a U.S.-led invasion in 2001,Kandahar was the traditional and spiritual seat of power of the militants. |
