Can the US vice-president broker Middle East peace?

Israel's plan to build more homes on occupied land in East Jerusalem has jeopardised the start of new indirect peace talks. Can US vice-president Joe Biden, who is in the region to lead the negotiations, make a breakthrough?

Israel and the Palestinians had earlier agreed to hold indirect "proximity talks" in a bid to restart the peace process, which has been stalled for 17 months.

Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erakat said it was 'very difficult to engage in any negotations' unless the building order was revoked. On Wednesday, Mr Biden condemned Israel's decision, saying it undermined trust.

Can Joe Biden's visit help the peace process? Are you in the region? How can Mr Biden pave the way for peace? What needs to happen for progress to be made?
