Injured Maulana Abdul Ghafoor passes away

KARACHI: Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem, who was injured in a drive-by attack on his car in Karachi on Thursday, succumbed to injuries here, Geo News reported Sunday.

He was receiving treatment at a private hospital after he was injured in an attack in Nazimabad near OA Clinic. His son Mu’awia was killed in the attack.

It should be mentioned that Maulana was en route to City Court to appear before the court, when he was attacked near Annu Bhai Park by armed motorists. He, his three sons and a guard were injured in the attack. All of them were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital; however, his son Mu’awia succumbed to injuries.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat spokesman appealed to the workers to stay peaceful.

The Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) made sketches of the attackers with the help of eyewitnesses and police; the sketches have been handed to the law-enforcers.

The FIR has been registered in Nazimabad police station two days after the incident; however, police did not confirm any arrest whatsoever.
