ECC approves 0.6m tons of urea import

ECC approves 0.6m tons of urea import ISLAMABAD: Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) in a meeting held here has approved the import of 0.6 million tons of urea.

Federal Minister for oil and gas and privatization, Syed Naveed Qamar on the special directive of the prime minister presided over the meeting.

The meeting decided to import 0.6 million tons of urea for the Rabi crops, which would be imported by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and later distributed by the National Fertilizer Marketing Company.

The import of urea aims at ensuring sufficient supply of fertilizer for Rabi season without any interruption. On the other hand, ministry of food and agriculture officials told Geo News that the government would have to give subsidy of Rs230 per bag in view of the existing international market price of urea. link..
