LAHORE: Training camp of the national hockey team for preparation of the World Cup Qualifying Round has begun here today after a week-long break while the two-day trials will begin tomorrow.
Talking with media at the beginning of the second phase of the training camp here at the National Hockey Stadium, secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation and team manager Asif
Bajwa told that the preparations for the World Cup Qualifying Round are in process and the tour of Europe in this regard would be useful for the team.
He said that preparations are not targeting any particular team but there is only one target and that is to qualify for the World Cup.
Asif Bajwa said that the two-day trials will begin tomorrow and the team would be selected only for the World Cup Qualifying Round.
Sources said that a 22-man team will be selected from the players including those playing league abroad like Rehan Butt, Salman Akbar and Waseem Ahmed. Finally, an 18-man team will be selected to tour Europe. link..
